Educational Opportunities
At the Senior Center we offer educational opportunities that will enhance knowledge and mental stability by providing activities in word search, computer training, various speakers on prevention, signs and how to manage various illnesses, health professionals on related topics for the elderly and health fairs, identity theft prevention, tax changes, safety prevention, driver safety and much more. At the Senior Center participants can also participate in exercise, art classes and other fun group learning activities.
Many of our seniors enjoy learning how to use the computer and internet to research topics. Volunteers and staff members assist in continued education, especially with the computer, and sometimes find that they can surprisingly learn a few new things about history from the seniors themselves!
Seminars
Seminars are held monthly on site, which consist of specialized topics: a single session or short, one day meeting devoted to presentations on and discussions of issues for the elderly. This is a new approach to reach elders that will aide them with being more independent, awareness of other programs and assistance that will enhance quality of care and where and how to access appropriate services that will be beneficial to them. Previous topics have included identity theft, safety, nutrition, transportation services and more.
